Hello folks.  Check out the video from out show last week at Club Underground.  Performed two new songs.  The vocals were a little quiet, but blame the soundman.

Hey folks!  We have a new thing now: we are officially a "taper-friendly" band!  I honestly haven't seen anyone tape our shows except for myself, but either way I have created a Curiously Strong Peppermints collection at the Live Music Archive, all for free download (flac, mp3 and streaming options). Right now there's our super show from Kelly's On Boone from Christmas 2010, the first show with drummer #4 Bradley.  Jesse got salmonella at that show.

Also, we just appeared on this new compilation in which a number of artists covered The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds album in its entirety.  We covered the song "Here Today".  You can download the compilation for free at:

Lack of updates recently…  Sorry about that!  We have two shows coming up, see to the right.  One being at Club underground in February, and the other performing at KVSC/UTVS’s Monday Night Live program!

We’re currently working on completely new material (songs in consideration for Album #3) to debut at these shows, so stay tuned!

The new album Echoes From The Ultraviolet Fuzz is out today.  You can buy a digital copy at http://cspm.bandcamp.com or if you want a physical CD, just contact the band.  We have copies ready to sell you!  Also, the album will be in iTunes in a few weeks...

Lots of hard work--over a year and a half and the contributions of 14 different musicians--was put into this wonderful concept album, I hope you guys enjoy it!

Also, we are proud to announce the newest addition to our Peppermint-family: our new drummer Sean!  He has played with Whiskey Book Club and is currently also playing in 5am Blue and Arrest The Mayor (who also features Ben on banjo).  Welcome him and say "hi" at one of our upcoming gigs (which ARE in the works!)

The album is finished.  I can't believe it.  Also, we made our kickstarter goal.  I can't believe it.  Thank you to all that helped us with the funding.  I hope you like your special things, as well as the album itself!  We will let you know things as soon as we do.

Thanks to all who came to our Cause show and the short-notice Wild Tymes show a few days later.  Right now, we are cutting back on our live performances to finish the album by September.

I know we will be playing as 5am Blue's CD Release Party at Kelly's On Boone sometime next month, but there's no info on that yet.  We'll let you know.

Work continues on Album #2.  Sounding really great!   We have 11 of the 14 songs nearly completed.

I uploaded the footage from our last show at The Terminal Bar, so check it out.  Also we're playing some shows coming up at Nick & Eddie and at The Cause, so go see us promptly.

Thanks to the folks at Dusty Pixels for letting us play last week and Eric Funn & Friends for squeezing us in at the last minute!  Bradley could not make the show so Mason and David shared percussion duties and we stripped it down to an acoustic show, with most of the set being completely new songs on our upcoming album (and beyond!).  Our dear friend Emily video taped it and it is up in the video section.  Enjoy!

Hello.  Hope you guys didn't go to The Conventicle show a few weeks ago.  We were cancelled and instead they showed a double feature of Deep Throat 1 & 2.  I gotta say that's a first!  But we're playing in two weeks at The Cause, so go there!

We appeared on this fan-organized tribute to The Flaming Lips called "A Collection Of Songs Representing An Enthusiasm For Recording Songs Previously Recorded By The Flaming Lips... By Amateurs"  It features our cover of the song "Halloween on the Barbary Coast" and is the final recording with our former drummer Eric.  The album is a free download, so check it out!

Also Jesse has been hard at work remastering Endless Fields of Poppy for a long-overdue physical disc release.  Stay tuned for that!  Hopefully we should have copies pressed and for sale by next month.  Cross yer fingers!

We regret to inform you that our drummer Eric has parted ways with The Curiously Strong Peppermints.  This was an amicable parting, a completely geographical one: as we all know, long distance relationships don't really work in a band, with him located in Milwaukee and the rest of the band in Minneapolis.  We wish him the best of luck with his new band The Elusive Parallelograms.

BUT we are excited to inform you of the newest addition to our constantly evolving Peppermint-family: Bradley, our new drummer!  He has played with a number of bands, including Missile Dick, Friendly Enemies, Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, Marshall Fucker Band, and so forth, and we are proud to showcase Bradley as the new rhythmic backbone of the band.

We will be playing a Xmas Party at Kelly's on Boone in Brooklyn Park, MN, on December 23rd.  Five bands and the show starts at 8.  I guess there's free food too.  Can't beat that!

Hey folks!  Sorry, no updates for a while.  We've been busy with other projects, but also slowly working on our followup to Endless Fields of Poppy.  We have 6 and a half songs that are pretty much finished and are sounding awesome!  We also have some big changes coming soon, but I don't want to jump the gun.  Also, it appears our album was the featured album of the week on waffles a few weeks ago, and we've gotten over 2,100 downloads!  So thanks to all who did, and I hope you enjoyed it.

We finally uploaded the video from our Big V's gig from back in September, as well as footage from a drum track recording session.  Both are linked in the "video" section.

Hello folks.  A big "thank you" to Canon Chorus, the Matt Churney Band and of course the management at The Kitty Cat Klub for the show on the 15th.  It was great...  And of course the audience, for being there of course!  We also filmed the show, and we'll be posting the video on youtube once it's edited.

You might have noticed two additional players, both supporting musicians and "unofficial Peppermints" to perform live and on record:  Sara LaPage on trumpet and David Schmitz (from Cities of the Plain and Wizard Baby) playing accordion, clarinet, percussion and vocal effects & manipulation.  Thanks for their help to fill in the sonic gaps and they will be at as many shows as their schedules permit!

Yeah, notice our new home at sunshinecortex?  I did!  The real news is we're 90% sure we're playing with the awesome psyche-pop band Canon Chorus at The Kitty Cat Klub on Sunday, 8/15/10.  More info as it comes in.

Wow, long time no see!  I guess I haven't been updating this site much at all...  A bunch of new things:

1) We have begun pre-production on our second album; we just decided on what songs will make the cut or not.  It will be a concept record, as previously reported.  We should begin recording-proper next month, hopefully.

2) Our cover of the unreleased Neutral Milk Hotel song "Little Birds" is featured on a compilation called 2nd Fanfare for Elephant 6 and is available for free download at http://cllct.com/release/2ndfanfareforelephant6

3) We played a show on 5/22/10 at The Medusa, which was the first featuring the return of our beloved drummer Eric Reiter.  It was a short set, played at 3am to about seven or eight people, but it was still pretty tight.  Luckily, it was video taped and is available via youtube...

OK, were YOU at the show last week?  If not, you may not have seen the two new members of The Curiously Strong Peppermints...

Mason Butler (guitars, keyboards, backing vocals) has already contributed tracks for 'Endless Fields of Poppy' and he's played in bands with both Jesse and Scott. Emily Tenczar (drums, backing vocals) is an old friend of everyone and she's formerly of Stained Glass Rabbit, Shut Me Up and The Cancer Kids.  Welcome them to the Peppermints family!

I updated our links section with more than just three links, including URLs to a few on-line comps we've been on as well as related bands and sideprojects of our band members and common contributors.  I've also added the artwork for "Endless Fields of Poppy" as pdf files for you to download and print if you still believe in the CD medium.  I also fixed several bugs and typos that I hope went otherwise unnoticed!

Hello folks.  Notice anything different?  Our awesomely lo-fi website got a facelift.  Not a hi-fi facelift, but a facelift in general.  After nearly a three year hiatus, The Curiously Strong Peppermints are back to make up for lost time.

Our debut album, Endless Fields of Poppy, is finally finished.  It contains songs you've never heard as well as totally remixed/improved versions of songs you have heard.  Most importantly, it's bundled together in a 45-minute psychedelic-pop odyssey.  We suggest listening through headphones.  To abide by popular trends in the music industry (and because we don't have the $$$ for mastering, pressing and distribution) we will be releasing this exclusively on-line through aimeestreet.com and soundclick.com on November 3rd, 2009.  If you are an audiophile who prefers a lossless version of the album, simply contact us.

We are also constructing a live band to promote the album and to perform around the Midwest.  Stay tuned for tourdates.
